GROUNDING Drop off program
This is for children 5 to 10yrs seeking independence and adventure in a safe, creative learning environment where multi aged learning is encouraged.

This program we explore GROUNDING through play, mindfulness techniques, simple rituals, earth crafts, observing our responses to the natural environment and sensory games.

WHAT IS GROUNDING?
Being grounded means that we are connected to our inner selves, mother nature and feel balanced.

This time in history requires our children to be grounded, resilient and steady.
More than ever they need to be flexible, adaptable and capable of recovering from setbacks. To do this successfully they need to know how to practice self care.

TOPICS:
Mindfulness
Creative problem solving
Transforming failure
Self Care

Each topic will be presented to the group through story, discussion, self care practices, earth games and craft.

Nature allows children to explore information and their response to it in a holistic way. This allows the things they learn to become integrated more deeply.

EARTH CRAFTS:
WHITTLING
WEAVING
NATURE MUSIC
RITUAL JEWELLERY
KNOT TYING with Youth Mentor Teyva
CLAY GRATITUDE BOWL
FINGER KNITTING
MAKE STORY STICK PEOPLE
HARMONY ART
NATURE-HEART SCIENCE with Elder Mentor Bill

EARTH GAMES:
Blindfold Buddy
Hide n Seek
Intuition Game
Team Scavenger Hunt
Circle of senses
Tug of War
Animal Tag

This is an all weather group (unless extreme weather which you'll be notified if we don’t go ahead). following the inspirational quote:
"There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.'
This helps build resilience physically, mentally and emotionally.

MENTOR/FACILITATOR:
Kate Andrews
I believe most children learn kinaesthetically (through their whole body and all senses) so nature is the cornerstone of the Grounding program. It also offers us metaphors in how we live our lives; why do we respond in a certain way to wind? Rain? Cold? How can we become self aware and manage our responses building resilience and use these metaphors within our daily lives?
I blend art and eco therapy, ancient rituals and wisdom as well as practical use of tools into all my offerings as I believe these form a solid foundation for wellbeing.

MOVEMENT MENTOR
Paula Flinn (parkour)
Paula is a Movement Coach, Parkour Instructor, and Breathwork Facilitator.
She is fascinated by the ways in which we can integrate and weave together healing with breath and movement.
Paula approaches movement through a lens of curiosity, exploration and playfulness. Her 3 children are the reason she got into Parkour at 35 years old, and they never fail to set the BEST challenges.

YOUTH MENTOR
Teyva Bisnath
Teyva is 16 and currently studying teaching at Curtin University.
She graduated Perth Montessori and has an eye for detail and love of nature.
Teyva has worked as a nanny, babysitter, bollywood dance teacher, and tutor and has amazing leadership and bush survival skills from her time spent with the Army Cadets making her a wonderful addition to the Wild Creative Mentors.
